What is the Victoria Guide?
This guide was developed by the staff of Ocean Island Inn | Backpackers | Suites to help our guests discover all that Victoria has to offer, from the big tourist destinations to the hidden gems.
Although the Victoria Guide was developed for our guests, we wanted to make it available to travelers who are considering a trip here, people thinking of moving to Victoria, and anyone else who’s looking for info about this great place!
Why we Put the Guide Together
We searched around and found there aren’t really any other good resources for people like us, either in print or on the web. There are a lot of guides that list all the harbour tours, the Christmas shops, the gardens, the Irish pubs, and the location of each and every Starbucks… and completely miss the things that make Victoria unique.
Our guide is different because we list places entirely based on how we feel about them. We don’t have paid listings, we don’t charge commissions or fees, and we don’t list a business unless we’ve been there, checked it out and liked what we saw. That being said, we do have Google ads: please click on one, because the Google ads cover upkeep and administration costs on this site.
There are three ways to navigate this site:

- Read through the posts by date on the main page
- Search for a specific word or phrase by typing it into the search box on the right.
