The Victoria Bar scene

There are all kinds of nightlife venues in the city. If you're into brewpubs, irish pubs etc, there's plenty of them! If you're into nightclubs and rave-style clubs, we got 'em! When you get hungry, check out our late-night eating page (for crappy cheap food) or the Swanky Lounges page (for really good, expensive food). The only thing we can't really find around here is sports bars, and there's no real cowboy bars (that we know of).

What kind of music you'll find, and how to find it:

Styles of music that will be played pretty much any night you happen to go out:
- house, maybe techno, maybe drum n bass
  - Hush Nightclub is the place for rave-y music
  - The Jungle Room features cool house, techno and drum n bass
  - The Island Jungle Forum ↑ is a great online resource for drum n bass and jungle
- top 40 & commercial (bubblegum, hip hop, alternative rock, R&B etc)
  - Plan B is all about top 40
  - Legends is also all about top 40, hip hop etc
  - Evolution plays lots of modern rock
  - The Boom Boom Room is all about commercial hip hop and r&b
- rock (folk, classic, alternative, modern, indie)
  - Lucky Bar is famous for putting on live rock shows and for hosting fun indie rock dance parties
  - Logan's (used to be Thursdays) is the place to see indie rock shows in Victoria
Styles of music you can find if you look really hard and plan ahead (and we've linked to some good resources for doing your planning):
- electronica other than house (techno, trance, IDM, industrial, noise, ambient etc)
  - Rave Victoria ↑ has info on parties and shows involving electronic dance music
  - Clubzone ↑ is a good community-driven resource for nightclubbers
- hip hop without the bling
- rock (good folk, good indie, good altrock, etc)
  - Live Victoria ↑ connects the local rock scene
