Canada's favourite outdoors store has finally expanded to Victoria and we couldn't be any happier. MEC is cool because they offer their own brand of gear at great prices, and they're a non-profit Canadian organization dedicated to getting people out into nature and encouraging environmental responsibility! However, to buy things you must be a member, which really just means spending $5 for a lifetime membership/a share in the co-op.

Robinson's Outdoor Store
Need a new tent? Or just feel like sniffing new hiking boots? This two-floor shop is an outdoors enthusiast’s dream. They stock all the main labels: The North Face, Marmot, Mountain Hard wear, Sierra Designs, Columbia, Horny Toad, Kuhl, Asolo, Salomon, Chaco, Teva and on and on and on. HTO is Canada's oldest surf shop, established in 1980! This is where you can find all things beach; bathing suits, Frisbees and board shorts. Great place to gear up for surfing, but also very much in the core skate scene too. Very close to Ocean Island!
