Save On is HUGE and fairly cheap. A great bulk food section; you can get a gallon of peanut butter should your heart desire it. The two closest locations to Ocean Island are: 172 Wilson Street (just across the Johnson St bridge) 3510 Blanshard Street (corner of Blanshard and Saanich Rd)

The family that owns this small bakery uses old-school baking methods with high quality, local ingredients. They serve all sorts of organic leaven breads baked in a wood fired oven and fresh all-organic pastry.

This is a local favorite, known for it’s great food and large portions. It gets especially busy during the weekends for breakfast, expect long lines.

This deli / grocery store is the best. Their paninis and lunch specials are absolutely fantastic. Avoid going there around 12pm because the lineup is out the door. Try the pasta special or the Turkey Pomodoro sandwich, and be sure to pick up some fancy cheese.

Healthy, but slightly pricy, mostly vegetarian food. They’ve got their own cookbook too!
