Ocean Island Victoria Guide

A really, really interesting and varied presentation of crazy underground film. Definitely not to be missed. Some of it will confuse the hell out of you and your friends, and some of it will blow you away.

Every August, the Victoria Film Festival erects an outdoor screen in Beacon Hill park and shows a bunch of movies. Bring a blanket and some popcorn and join in the fun! Just like the name suggests, this festival is free.

Vancouver Island’s Largest Film Festival takes place every February, screening 150 films over 10 days. Previous guest celebrities and judges include: Kris Kristofferson, Atom Egoyan, David Foster, Barry Pepper, John Waters.

PFMA (formerly the Victoria Motion Picture Shcool) is a school put together by filmmakers, with tons of grads working in the film industry. Apparently they can really rock and roll.
