The Ridge Theatre
Hardly the modern technological miracle it was fifty years ago, the Ridge theatre remains on top by offering a variety of first and second run foreign and Hollywood fare. Plus there is a crying room for parents, and “movies 4 mommies” every Tuesday. Second run double bills for adults are $6 and $3.50 for children and seniors. Premieres for adults are $8 and $5 for children and seniors. Special deals for Tuesday nights and Wednesday matinees.

Hollywood Theatre
Being family owned and operated for over sixty-nine years is quite a feat. Hollywood Theatre shows a mix of second run foreign and Hollywood movies at discount prices. $6.00 for an adult double bill ticket Tuesday through Sunday, Monday double bills are $4.00, and weekend matinee double bills are $5.00. Double bill tickets for Seniors and children under thirteen are always $3.50.

Pacific Cinematheque
Pacific Cinematheque offers film resources and education programs among other things. This not for profit arts society promotes critical media literacy and furthers film as an art form and means of necessary communication. Single Bill tickets are $8.50, Double Bill tickets are $10.50 and 10 Double Bill pass tickets are $80.00. Single Bill/Double Bill/10 Double Bill pass tickets for students and seniors are $7/$9/$70 respectively. To view films an annual membership of $3 is required and can be purchased at the door.

The Normand Bouchard Memorial AMS Theatre
AKA “The Norm” is located in the main concourse of the Student Union Building at UBC. Little else can beat $3.00 movies. Mostly second run movies are screened here, but sometimes there are also pre-release screenings, and occasionally free movies.

UBC improv
Often funnier than the improv on Granville Island, and much much cheaper at $2, the UBC improv team has shows during the school year on the last Wednesday and Friday of the month at seven o’clock in the Neville H. Scarfe building (the education building).
